3 Secrets Of Knowing The Business You're REALLY In…

Have you ever had a major “A-ha” moment?
That time when you realized one of the biggest secrets to life that changed your life? You are probably thinking about it right now. What was it for you?
These life-changing moments rarely come from someone telling us something, they come from doing, pain, or being in a rock bottom situation that we wouldn't wish on our worse enemy.
However, as we mature, we begin to listen more and let experience and wisdom have their way in our life. According to King Solomon, wisdom is gained from God, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding” Proverbs 2:6. … “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” Proverbs 3:5–6.
Most entrepreneurs will NEVER know when it comes to their business: Who they truly work for and the true purpose of business. Most think of business for themselves or their families. Most think of business as a way to buy big homes, fancy cars, take lavish vacations, eat at the best restaurants, live life on their own terms by avoiding the 9 to 5, 40-year game plan, etc. Entrepreneurship to most is about self-gain.
Now, there is nothing wrong with having all of these things, and I truly believe God’s word when he said he will give you the desires of your hearts. Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. But ask yourself, what is it that you TRULY desire? And where will it take you in this life and for eternity?
I recall when I first entered into business and I was at my office some 20 something years ago, although I had been baptized as a young kid and believed in Jesus… I did this, and it took me decades to change my stinking thinking. Let me explain what happened:
There was a song playing by Kurt Franklin called Silver and Gold…It went something like; Silver and gold, silver and gold, I rather have Jesus than silver and gold…I remember saying very lightly under my breath, I rather have silver and gold….I said I want to be rich!
It was kinda like the scenario of Jesus telling the rich man to go sell everything and follow me. Jesus answered him, “If you wish to be perfect [that is, have the spiritual maturity that accompanies godly character with no moral or ethical deficiencies], go and sell what you have and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me [becoming My disciple, believing and trusting in Me and walking the same path of life that I walk].” Matthew 19:21.
I am so grateful that God, loves me enough to forgive my ignorance and give us chances after chances to redeem ourselves by sacrificing his son so that we may have life. He also chooses us to carry on that entrepreneurial spirit. Not everyone has that gift. It comes from God and our ability to prosper and gain wealth is also a gift and promise from him. Deuteronomy 8:18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. This is the first secret that you should know, success is not because of you it’s because of God’s promise.
As a follower of Bible Business Academy, it is my hope that you have already learned a lot, and realize that you have more to learn as this is a way to get understanding not only of business but of God’s purpose for your life.
One huge secret that stood out for me and the second one that I’m sharing with you, as well as hoping it stands out to you and convinces you to adopt the belief; That you can’t stay in the business of providing service or products if you a want a high income — Instead you must be in the business of marketing your service using biblical principles just like Jesus marketed his message with God’s word.
Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
If you decided to adapt this secret principle, it shouldn't take years to see success, it could happen this week and certainly, in a few months. If you ask 99% of business owners what business they’re in, they’ll more than likely tell you, “I’m a Financial Advisor”, “I’m A Doctor”…or “I’m a Copywriter”. In other words, they’ll simply tell you the “thing” they do for a living.
Sadly the title or the one thing they do or sell is what most of the entrepreneurs in the world focus on when they attempt to improve their income. They simply focus on improving the “one thing” they do for a living, or selling more of their product and truly believe that this will lead to prosperity and freedom.
For example, most copywriters think that learning how to write a better headline, a stronger close will allow them to magically command higher fees. However, the number #2 mindset shift you NEED to have that’ll give you more wealth and abundance is to realize that the REAL business you’re in is the MARKETING business!
You see, without marketing, you’ll simply be hoping and praying that targeted customers and clients will magically contact you for your product and services.
Most have heard the line “If you build it, they will come.!” it’s a cute saying and may have worked for Kevin Costner in the movie Field of Dreams, but it won’t work for you in your business! Why? Because it doesn’t matter how well you do your “thing” if you have a lack of customers, patients, and clients coming to your office, emailing you, texting you, or calling you. And that’s why you have to get in your head that the REAL business you are in is the marketing of the “thing”, rather than the thing itself.
Think about the stories and examples that the bible used to meet people where they are at (in their mind and life) to take them where they desired to go ( a better option that leads to eternal life). Where are your patients, clients, or customers currently at in their minds and actual life situations?
Now, where do they want to be or go, and what stories, parables, and images do you need to put in front of them in an omnipresent kind of way to lead them to your product or services that is better for them in every way.
How can you become their only option? How can you get the message across in a way that is appealing, entertaining, and educational that it penetrates their thoughts and soul so much that they must take action and buy from you?
This is what marketing is all about. You don’t force someone to buy from you, just because of who you are or simply because you said so….just as God did with eternal life, he gave us a choice and your clients. patients and customers have a choice.
You are also not in the convincing business you are in the demonstrating and example business. This is all done through mission marketing in a strategic and disciplined way that reflects biblical principles.
