Create A Bright Light And Don’t Let Your Followers Walk In Darkness
STRATEGY #24 I Am the Light of the World
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
One of the biggest keys to getting and keeping customers, clients, or patients — and deterring them from seeing something brighter in your competitor on the other side of the ocean is to keep the light shined on them.
God did it in writing throughout the bible and you want to do it through email, newsletters, blogs, podcasts, videos, direct mail, etc that provides continuous value and a constant reminder of why choose you and your company and no one else. Become the only option in their minds.
The goal is to develop a “team of believers”…a group of customers who bond with you and read all your emails, blog posts, free reports, and buy your product or services. Jesus was a master at developing a team of believers and you want to follow his example and do what he did.
Have a mindset first, that you are the ONLY answer to their most pressing problems, and if they follow you all of their challenges and problems will be solved, and without you, there is no hope of the future they desire and deserve.
If you don’t have this conviction about yourself and what you do, and thankfulness and prayer to God for supplying you with what you need to serve others and being successful in business you have already lost. Winning in business and in life starts with believing what God said about you and giving him all of the glory.
Colossians 1:9–14, says….
9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy;
12 giving thanksd]” to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,
14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Once you realize that you have been fully equipped to bear the fruit of good work through your business and lead others you want to implement proven strategies that will separate you from the pack in your market. Many have tried to become greater than Jesus but no one will ever succeed at it. The competition is always trying to dull your light, don’t let them and for heaven's, sake do not dim your own light.
Perhaps you are just getting started or have been in business for a long time you want to transform your thinking to this mindset. You do that by getting understanding from the knowledge that God has given you, when you grow in understanding of what you are capable of, it's just a matter of time before the transformation of what you think will become a reality.
You also want to implement personality in your copywriting and marketing. Be sure to share stories in your marketing also. Jesus was a master marketer, he told parables throughout the bible. Why did he do this? Because he wanted to reach the hearts of people.
He meets them where they were at and then took them where they needed to go with stories. If they were fishermen he talked about casting a net. If they were builders he talked about building a tower. He used practical examples that made you unconsciously nod in agreement as you are hearing the spoken word. If you agree then your sold and will pull out your credit or debit card every time agreeing to every up sale and down sale.
When you ponder on this and accept this as fact, it is the exact stuff that’s going to get your prospects to stick with you long-term and BOND with you. Jesus still has the world believing all these centuries later.
One very important tip: there’s a difference between a healthy “Team Of Believers,” and a “tainted” Team Of Believers…
The business with a “tainted” Team Of Believers,” just has a “list”. They’ll brag about their email list size but the fact is 80% of them have absolutely NO relationship with the business... Don’t skip over this important fact. Yes, you can probably make money with them in the short term…but it’ll destroy you in the long term. This philosophy reminds me of the scripture from Matthew 7:21–23:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Not everyone who buys today will stay around and buy a decade from now unless you build a healthy team of believers by constantly providing value not only in your products and service but also by providing constant value, education, and entertainment that keeps them coming back, over and over again and telling others about you.
Think from having customers, clients, and patients who have or will be with you for 5, 10, and 20 years from now. Most companies can keep you around for a year or two, but it takes a considered effort to make it last forever.
I think about the company that I represent as an independent contractor as a Finacial Advisor, I have been with them for over 25 years, and every time I even think about another firm, it only lasts for a nano of a second because they just do it right 99% of the time and they make doing business with them so simple that it only makes sense to remain with them and build through them. They have in my mind become the only option. How can you make your company the only option in the minds of your prospects, customers, clients, or patients?
One of the most powerful ways to keep a light shined on your company and you are through newsletters, especially the ones that are mailed to their front door. By keeping in touch with your customers, clients, or patients through direct mail it and keeps you “front and center” in their minds.
The goal is to be in their life pretty much daily, and this can be done through daily emails, groups, and social media posts. The value of a customer is either going up or going down every single day.
With that being said, if your primary connection with your customers occurs only once a month then there are 29 days of darkness that your team of believers is forced to live in which means they will seek the light elsewhere. God tells us in Joshua 1:8:
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
It would be no different in a relationship if you only saw or spoke to your spouse once a month how fast would that love light fizzle out. So figure out how many times you can “touch bases” with your customers, clients, and patients through a multitude of media: mail, email, social media, etc. etc.
This is how you keep the light shining and ensure they’re going to keep not only doing business with you over and over again but also keep referring others to you also.
