Take The Stress Out Of Business and Create Systems

STRATEGY #34

Here is how most businesses start out. You have a passion for something you do every day with ease. It could be from cooking, working on cars, art, counseling, etc. So you get super excited, go get that logo and get that website build and say now I am in business.

Most people who start out with this level of enthusiasm never even think about a marketing or sales system. Let’s talk about your marketing system, which you don’t even call it marketing. It usually starts out with over blasting your social media accounts with posts that say come by my stuff, here is what I am selling, here is how much it cost, buy it now.

This type of approach is generally followed by crickets and a crushed spirit.

Knowone buys, your feelings are hurt and then you began to blame others, especially family, and start saying things like “I always buy from you and support you, but you never support me.” Or you see other people selling the same thing, posting their results and you began to really self-sabotage and say; “Why are they so lucky and I am not, what's wrong with me?”

Then, worse yet, you quit or say this type of business is not for you or won’t work for you. You spend years and even decades, following this same destroying cycle instead of making a decision to get understand and apply winning systems that have led someone who has been successful for decades to do what you just quit doing.

You become like the runner in the race who starts and don’t finish. 1Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. If you want to be part of the one who runs so that they may obtain it, then you must do the things that winners do in the preparation and system stages.

So instead of relying on a “roll the dice strategy,” basically throwing a bunch of stuff out there to see what works, you want to find out what has already worked and do that instead.

You want to build and leverage repeatable proven systems as they are the key and the formula to unlocking the potential in your business. Using systems that are inefficient, leave money on the table, and are unpredictable will keep you frustrated and broke.

You want to think in a very specific way about business… and make every aspect of your marketing 100% systems based. It’s no different than God, knowing that we needed the bible system to meditate on day and night in order for us to get understanding. He also made it very clear that reading and believing was not enough that we had to become doers and finishers.

Most businesses can tell you how or probably what they do but they cannot tell you what systems they use to create repeatable customers or worse yet, what marketing systems if any that they have in place.

It's very important if you want to become prosperous, to have proven marketing systems, and also for selling, creating products, hiring staff, and other critical elements of your business.

In addition, you also must also have marketing systems that allow you to have more certainty and stability in your business. You want success to be so predictable in your mind first because of what God promised in Deuteronomy 8:18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

And second, you don’t want a “hope and pray strategy.” You want to know that it will be done. Hope is not faith. Matthew 21:22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

In order for God to do His part, you must do your part. Your part is to believe His promises, pray with faith and plant the seeds (systems) and then implement the systems that can almost predict how many customers and clients you're going to get this week, this month, this quarter, and this year as well as in the future years to come.

If you’ve used the “hope and pray” marketing strategy, it’s time to cease and desist from this behavior immediately. If not you will continually find yourself quitting or being in a cash flow crunch and doing random acts of marketing like posting content online that repels, or even sending out a bunch of postcards (usually to an untargeted list and without a defined offer) and “hope and pray” they’ll get more customers and clients.

It also helps when the systems are sophisticated and well thought out as this puts you in a league of your own. Just like your fingerprints are different, so is what God has for you to do in this world. The goal is to build your systems around your uniqueness, God’s assignment for you as well as proven marketing techniques.

Systems will also become a valuable asset if you decide to sell your business, as most investors will want to see impenetrable systems in place so they can “step in” and take things over.

McDonald's is a great example of systems: Ray Kroc joined McDonald's in 1954 and was able to automate the process of making cheeseburgers and fries so they can “systematize” the creation of fast food. It didn’t matter who was flipping the burgers or taking the fries out of the fryer and dashing salt on them. As long as they followed the system, they were able to make burgers and fries in less than a minute.

In other words, Kroc created systems for creating hamburgers, Big Macs, and the rest of their food line. That way they could just hire 16-year olds or 70-year-olds for minimum wage to create their burgers. And when they would quit 3 months later, they hired others to replace them with no drop-off in productivity or profits.

Here’s the best part: they didn’t have to be expert chefs. They didn’t have to have any cooking experience. They just had to follow the system — which is why a Big Mac tastes exactly the same at a Hong Kong McDonalds as it does at a McDonald's in Washington DC.

Being systematized allowed Mcdonald's to multiply their success decade after decade and become the biggest franchise in the world even after death. Just as Jesus has multiplied His success after thousands of years by having a system in place for the apostles to go out and spread the good news of the gospel using the bible.

Just after Kroc died in 1984, Mcdonald's sold their 50-billionth burger. The Bible is the best-selling book of all time, having sold around 5 billion copies to date. … The Bible now is also the most translated book in human history. It primarily serves as the basis of the world’s largest religion: Christianity as of Sep 2021.

Imagine knowing when and how you’re going to get your ideal customers and clients 4–6 months from now a year from now. And think about what that’ll do for your mindset, your sales team's belief level, and how well you sleep at night, not to mention the lives that you will impact.

Implementing systems can change your life and your business. Your worries will just about disappear. And you’ll experience peace beyond understanding along with sustainability that most entrepreneurs only dream about.
