Working In A Chosen Niche. What Does God Want You To Do?

STRATEGY #37

When it comes to business, most can come up with an idea of what they want to do, how they want to do it, where they want to do it, but most never think about, WHO they need to do it with or WHAT God wants them to do.

There are riches in niches and success in following God’s way of doing things. Let’s begin this discussion with what is a Niche in business.

A Niche Market is a group of people of a market in your industry that has its own preferences, demands, and needs that are different from the wider market.

For example, the great majority of religious markets fall under twelve classical niches — Baha’i, Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Shinto, Sikhism, Taoism, and Zoroastrianism. And if you tried to use the same language to reach the people you are trying to introduce and commit to the religion, it would be a huge disaster and a colossal failure in marketing and getting the desired results.

Most entrepreneurs never think about putting God into their business plans or even understanding how to market or what marketing it is all about, or even how biblical principles can apply to business.

Their definition of marketing falls in the realm of a logo, website, some flyers, and posting on social media. Their idea of the role God plays in business is not even at the forefront of their mind.

Let’s take a look at how Jesus instructed the 72 to accomplish a mission. Which is what business is all about. Finding people with a problem and offering a solution.

Luke 10:1–42
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ …

The instructions that Jesus gave to the seventy-two disciples when he sent them on a mission.

  1. The disciples were to pray for more laborers to be sent for the harvest,
  2. The disciples were not to carry any purse/bag/sandals.
  3. They were not to salute anyone on the road.
  4. They were to say peace any house they entered.
  5. They were to remain in the same house / NOT to go from house to house.
  6. They were to eat/drink whatever was provided.
  7. They were to heal the sick
  8. They were, to tell the people that the kingdom of God has come near
  9. They were to wipe off the dust on their feet against the people if not received.

First off, do you have a bigger mission than making money?

Next, have you thought about the team that you will need to carry this mission out? (This one topic is an academy all about itself, to learn more go to biblebusinessacademy.com) Third, what problem are you going to solve for your chosen niche? Fourth what is your marketing game plan to reach the niche you want to serve? Fifth, do you know how to narrow your niche down?

Notice I did not say how you were going to solve that problem, because you are already the expert in that area and it’s the main reason why you choose the business you did. The BIGGEST problem you are facing is EXACTLY how you are going to get your MARKETING MESSAGE out to a particular group of people, who need and want help, ie your NICHE.

Most have tons of personal experience, in their expertise, from schooling, and work or personal experience. But most entrepreneurs know nothing about how to run a business and have never taken a class in marketing.

Things tend to go great in the beginning when a few friends, family, or followers say yes to what you do, but then some 30 to 90 days later when your income takes a nosedive. The messenger stopped dinging, the post stop being liked, shared, or commented on, panic begins to set in and your revenue and production cease to exist or has dwindled down to pennies.

At the same time, the competition had risen and you are seeing others in your exact same field having massive success and results. They are constantly showing up in your feed, and because Marketing is not one of the skills you choose to become an expert at, you are not aware of why you are seeing their post and most importantly how to get strangers, in your preferred niche to see what you are offering.

The 9 steps above laid out a strategy that Jesus used to get results and building your business is no different. You must have a strategy and also make a decision to get better with marketing, by taking classes, attending events, conferences, summits, and reading books like our latest release “Bible Business Secrets.”

While going to those events, taking these classes, it is imperative to realize a very important lesson: TRANSFORM YOUR THINKING! The bible tells us in Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Number one, you want to think of doing things in the will of God and secondly, you want to get out of your comfort zone. If you want your business and life to change as a result of the things you’ve learned, you must do things that you have not done before, EVEN IF it makes you uncomfortable.

You must start trying and doing bolder proven things. Also, incorporating the daily reading of God’s word along with learning from others who think of God first can help give you the courage you need to speak and capture the attention of the people in your niche market and create the success you desire. This is a biblical principle and here are a few scriptures to help you adapt to this new way of thinking as displayed in Joshua 1: 5–8.

5 Just as I was with Moses, I will be with you. No one will be able to stop you all your life. I will not abandon you. I will never leave you. (Know that God will be with you.)

6 “Joshua, you must be strong and brave! You must lead these people so that they can take their land. I promised their fathers that I would give them this land. (You must be strong and brave in your business so you can help and lead the people in your niche to succeed.)

7 But you must be strong and brave about obeying the commands my servant Moses gave you. If you follow his teachings exactly, you will be successful in everything you do. (You must have an expert that is following, teaching, and a living example of following God’s word and has the results to show.)

8 Always remember what is written in that book of law. Speak about that book and study it day and night. Then you can be sure to obey what is written there. If you do this, you will be wise and successful in everything you do. (This requires reading the bible in the morning, during the day, and at night, so you will keep God’s word on your mind at all times. This will lead to a well-balanced life and success in business.)

9 Remember, I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (When you remember that God is in control and have FAITH that He will guide you and be with you, it gives you the courage to do some different things, even if they are uncomfortable. These uncomfortable decisions are what will lead you to success. If you keep doing the same thing and expecting different results, you are thinking from yourself and not letting God lead the way. With God, there is ALWAYS success.)

So from this point on start with FAITH and begin thinking about what you can do to get the right message out to your chosen niche. Pray to God and through the Holy Spirit, the answer will come. It can come in the form of a challenge, a product, an event, or a partnership, just to name a few. He says in John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. So, the more time you spend meditating on His Word, you will know when He is speaking to you. He will send you the right leader, the right message, and everything that you need to create success and serve His people in the Niche that He assigned to you.

Things will very quickly turn around for you. Things will get so big and you will reap a harvest in the same year when you are obedient. You can go from being unknown to well-known. You can go from being broke to being a millionaire. You can go from tithing pennies to tithing millions. You can go from being one of the lowest producers in your niche to one of their top 1% producers nationwide in 18 months' time or less.

In one of our early blogs, we've already talked about the importance of finding your target market earlier but, when you make that decision to put God first, really niching down your target audience “specialize” so that you can serve more, get better and quicker results, and charge more and be the “expert” person in your marketplace, you will see a mircle-like turnaround.

A marketing rule to go by is there shouldn’t be more than 100,000 target prospects in your niche. If there are more than that, consider niching yourself down so that you can narrow your target and get below this number. By doing so, it allows you to target the people that you were called to serve better with your advertising and tailor your message-to-market match with the people God entrusted you to lead and help.
